eMarketer predicts major growth in video viewing on mobile devices. The trend of larger screens, more powerful processors and better, faster mobile data coverage is a key reason. And of course mobile users are increasingly upgrading their old phones with video-capable smartphones.
For example, 4G will provide superfast data connections at speeds of up to 100 megabits per second, that’s faster than most UK broadband services, especially in rural areas. The four UK network operators are already preparing their networks to add 4G capability, while the consultancy Strategy Analytics is forecasting that 275m 4G-capable smartphones will be shipped worldwide in 2013, more than tripling from 91m in 2012
eMarketer says that world wide there will be 189.6 million online shoppers, 80.9 million social gamers and 164.2 million social network users all using the mobile platform by the end of the year.
